Each day is harder to achieve a good positioning on the Internet for a business like a hostel. 2010 will be a very complex year, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategies buy something until late 2009, will be reformulated and adapt our standards to the new order.
In Hostel Colonial Buenos Aires, working since 2005 in all these aspects related to our visibility on the web, especially if one considers that the level of advertising investment is very low or zero.Randi Fish, an expert on the subject, has given us some predictions for this year, will have to see what happens.
We will continue using metatags as we did? We will concentrate the focus of our attention on our SMO (Social Media Optimization) strategy?
We believe that from our blogs segment our target audience: by country, language, preferences. with the objective of more and more people can know the attractions of Hostel Colonial in Buenos Aires and Argentina.
These are the words of Randi

Completed a new edition of Blogger’s Choice Awards. I really thought the competition was abandoned, but was not well. As in 2007 and 2008, involved with this blog in the category Best Travel Blog. In those years consecutively won the category and even caused some controversy. In the 2009 edition we achieved the second place in the voting. I think that was a good and hard work. Hostel Colonial Buenos Aires was there again.
In 2008 I discussed with
Gary Arndt, author of the
blog Everything Everywhere (winner of the 2009 edition) about who should have been the winner and
blah, blah, blah. Indeed, a minor discussion, everyone has clearly defined its objectives and decisions, some are blogging, other businesses, I do two things.
We also got nominations and votes in the category “
Worst Blog of All Time“, coincidentally, all from the city of Mexicali, a city of the author of the
blog that won
third place, who apologized.
Anyway, I guess we’re all winners, we have the possibility that many people know our work. I personally like the result, I’m also in 2009 having achieved the place
#3 in the

A selection of Buenos Aires blogs (mine are too, but it still belong to the virtual brotherhood) are those that usually read, which I like, some of these blogs are highly recommended and maybe they can attempt to extend the information of Buenos Aires provided from Hostel Colonial (7000 posts – text & images in 3 blogs) or simply to enjoy as I do.

Every day in our tumblelog (a tumblelog is a variation of a blog that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging.)
Common post formats found on tumblelogs include links, photos, quotes, dialogues, and video. Unlike blogs, tumblelogs are frequently used to share the author’s creations, discoveries, or experiences while providing little or no commentary.
In our case the photos are from Buenos Aires. The links, quotes or vídeos are interesting things or posts published on our other blogs related about Buenos Aires, backpacking or Hostel Colonial.
People already know, you can follow us in the url: hostelcolonial(dot)tumblr(dot)com or clicking on the title of this post.

On April 17 th., 2007 I opened my account on Twitter, it has been 2 years. I have no doubt that Hostel Colonial Buenos Aires was the first hostel in the world have an account on Twitter. Almost without realizing was joined followers and friends, slowly the network was expanded, there were very few in fact and in my case is not yet understood the importance and correct use of a micro-blogging platform like Twitter.
I like Twitter, I also like Blip.fm, both the social networks that are mostly used over Facebook, Orkut, Plurk, Jaiku and Pownce (no longer exists today).
Virtual friends became real friends. Some followers (mostly Argentines, we are First World. Do you remember? We find it too look inwards.) ceased to follow me, is almost a natural condition.
Every day there are more events related to Twitter in Buenos Aires, this is my debt, I could not go to anyone else. The network is vast and the result is absolutely positive.
Has been so long since we
Blog de Viajes, the
Best Spanish Language Blog, published “
A hostel in Buenos Aires was using Twitter“, learning time, until they came to be finalists in the
Lonely Planet 2009 Travel Blogger Awards –
Best Micro-blogging.
In the middle, the people, the most important thing in this way it has to transcend the virtual space of
140 characters, the ones who know, the ones who I know.
To all, thanks. Jorge

Why all the work with every day that I had to get into this? The
blog takes work, the
blogs of the
restaurants, too. Managing restaurants is a very hard work. Being present in different
social networks takes a lot of time. Well, and doesn´t end here, however, be a father of three little kids and husband, is also a great job, very gratifying indeed.
It was necessary to add a new task and a new challenge? Yes, definitely. Why not? The
technology,
communication and
marketing are changing continuously and at a incredible speed. Ok, will wonder what I´m talking about?
Simply a new
communication tool (one more …) I’d like to call
blogweb, as a matter of relevance. A great work done by
Alejandro Velazquez , a turning point between an old
web page, the
blog on
Blogger (this blog!!), the
microblog on
Tumblr and my introduction as editor in the
Wordpress world.
Why so many developments for a
hostel? Because I believe that this would be doing all things. Business are business, but it’s nothing if one doesn´t take risks, if it doesn´t do things with passion.
No matter the size of my business, no matter the money, if one day one of my kids can say –
My dad was the one who introduced me to the Web 4.0. A major objective. That’s going to live every time, that’s what I intend for my life and
Hostel Colonial is part of that.
Evolution, and achieves the best results. I don´t know how many
hostels do a job like this. I have the perception that this
hostel, from here, from
Buenos Aires, will be a major reference (I think it´s). That’s all for now, will soon be online the new project, you can see a breakthrough
here.
As you know, in a few days another site where they read about what happens in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Hostel Colonial, backpacking and the world of low-cost travel.

Hostel Colonial Buenos Aires presents a new communication tool.
“
Your Backpacking Experience in Buenos Aires” is another microblog that runs on
Tumblr.
The idea is to use this platform to publish the experiences of
backpackers and
independent travelers who have stayed at our
hostel, or who have visited the city of
Buenos Aires, regardless of the
hostel where they were, except that it doesn´t mention. Sorry, really really sorry, but that is not my job,

.
How can they do? Simple. Leaving a comment on this
blog or write the
Buenos Aires XP to this mail:
blogspot@hostelcolonial.com.ar

I read the note, if you send photos better, edit it and published it here.
I just need some information about the author as:
- First and last name.
- Age.
- Your country and city.
- Contact mail.
- Why chose Buenos Aires to live this XP?
I hope to receive each day a lot of stories, from Buenos Aires from the hostel and of your fantastic journey through these lands. I hope yours.
