PLURK, YOU TUBE, HOSTEL COLONIAL, BUENOS AIRES Y LAS REDES SOCIALES

Gracias.

HOSTEL COLONIAL – BACKPACKER 2.0 INTERVIEW

How started to relate with Web 2.0?
It was a kind of search, an alternate way. The options were handled for a business like ours (the hostel, not the restaurants) were exhausted, repeated constantly and with reduce margin to experiment.

It was then that you decided to open a blog?
It was in late 2005, but really didn´t know what it was but thought it could become a powerful tool: Information every days, every time, photos, music, videos, tools, services on line, and I´m not wrong.

Why not think you were wrong?
Because you would twittering with Biz Stone and I would be watering my turnips.

Ja,Ja,Ja, You know who is Biz Stone?
Yes, it’s the son who had Bizz Ligthyear and Sharon Stone, but ran out of batteries and was unable to give his surname. No, seriously, of course I know who is Biz Stone, I have said TWITTERING.

You are crazy man, well – You think of Twitter?
I think it´s the “Social Network” in Argentina, is the tool used by many professionals and already surpasses Facebook and all others, but sometimes, many times, its operation is a real shit.

So why use them?
Because we are like flies, we like shit. I really think that using Twitter build a community, many cool people and fortunately many of them are my virtual friends, the list exceeds five hundred people.

Yeah, a large number of followers, you think that Facebook, Jaiku, My Space, Digg or Pownce this doesn´t happen?
Sure, Facebook is very complete but smell like College spirit, Pownce is very good, but it´s people empty, My Space, ugghhh!! and Jaiku is Twitter by Larry and Sergei, is like a Ferrari manufactured in China, isn´t a Ferrari. Sorry, is what I believe.
I should also clarify that I use all of them.

Biz, Larry, Sergei, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, what think about all of them?
I admire his work, at one point as revolutionary as it was in its time the work of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, 30 years ago.

Only that?
No, also admire your bank accounts.

What was most difficult to work on the blog?
Definitely it was more work to achieve the positioning, gain credibility since we published into the blog, try each post will be interesting for different targets and have a significant number of contacts within the Social Networks, and also manage the HTML and SEO tools.

You are putting serious, we are interested to talk about Technorati?
Oh, yes, I´m grateful to Technorati, formerly just a stupid and now thanks to these dudes I have achieved as a stupid with many authority.
Technorati is very important for the positioning of a blog, it´s actually very important to me, but no more than other tools, I believe that Social Networks are incredible to develop a strategy for viral marketing for example.

How you can use a backpacker full-featured Web 2.0?
The ways are several, but they go toward the same goal: Selectivity.
It´s very important to choose the blogs (Hostel Colonial Blog is my blog) that will read to undertake their trip, tested and using various tools and discard those that aren´t useful.
It´s also important that can meet wireless technology and travelling with her, I think they are indispensable: smartphone, laptop, IPod and handhelds, which can achieve.

You think you are a reference for other hostels?
No, I´m only a reference for myself in front of the mirror, if you say that I´m proud and I would become a real idiot, but I´m not going to discuss the thinking of others, if you want to become “The 2.0 Hostel Guru”, it´s ok, and I´m looking for a consultant offices.

What do you think will happen in the coming years?
Share content will no longer be attractive. I believe that the search will for generate content in a participatory manner. In what I mean by this? You have some notes to the bass, I can put the notes of my guitar, but why not us together to make a song? There will be a new interpretation of the concept involution, back to neighborhood, we will have to find in the streets and establish relationships as we did 20 years ago, only thanks to the Internet “Web 2.0 is only involution, but I like it”. Think, definitely going to be that way. I think it’s a thought completely disruptive.

Wow, I like what you say, we are in tune. Thank you men.

What are your last words?
They are not mine, are my wife words: WHAT ARE YOU FUCK DOING?

HOSTEL COLONIAL BUENOS AIRES LIVE ON THE WEB 2.0

Today I received an e-mail from a German friend, who visited Hostel Colonial on 2 occasions, with a job done by him in Photoshop with the following inscription “Only a hostel live on the Web 2.0, Hostel Colonial, the only one”.
I liked the assessment and while I think there are other people working on it, in Argentina there are no significant developments in our market and Hostel Colonial has been gradually becoming a small brand 2.0.
But to understand what is Web 2.0, read this note, all our work and participation in social networks, click on each link:

The challenge for 2008 will work, work and more work, looking interrelate web and blog based on Hostel Colonial as tourist services company whose business purpose is the lodging sale and capitalize on the work done in social networks, to realize a participatory blog . We have a year to achieve. Walk this way, Hostel Colonial Blog is definitely Web 2.0.

Happy New Year.
